AVE 11: Story Writing

Your mission this weekend is to try to complete a first draft of your short story, however rough that draft may be! We will be revisiting ways to make improvements to it over the next week or so and you need to be prepared to share it with your (new!) groupmates as we move forward.

Remember not to destroy/lose any of your Kite Runner work as we will be taking all of the legwork you have already completed creating your visual response and turn that into an essay next week. (I can see you all smiling from here!)

In Other News…

Food donations are being accepted all next week and we all need to start thinking about what will go well with milk and cookies for when we win this competition!!!

Book Club: Next Wednesday! See link on top right corner of this page.

AVE 11: Boot Camp continues…

So we have all committed to writing a short story following the parameters established by our friends at One Teen Story. So far we have examined story arc, narrative structure, character development, and point of view. You should have a first draft of your story well underway by now! Thursday we will be looking specifically at dialogue… fun!

Meanwhile, in other news…
Your group needs to be prepared to present your visual projects for The Kite Runner on Friday. Consider it preparation for what is coming next… details TBA 🙂

ENG 12: Life is Beautiful

We have been watching the film, Life is Beautiful, in class for the past few days. It offers an interesting contrast in style and tone from our book, Night. We will finish watching the last few minutes on Thursday and begin working on the assignment “Comparing Texts” which will be our last work for Night.

After that, we will start a new unit on Monday studying the genre of essays.

PS – a few of you still need to pass in your 5 Pieces of Me writing assignment and your RAFT/A Look Back assignment for Night!!
